The Nonprofit Sector in Brief: Facts and Figures from The Nonprofit Almanac 2008 (2008)

The Nonprofit Almanac 2008.

The New Nonprofit Almanac and Desk Reference (2002). This is an updated edition in the series of statistical profiles on the nonprofit sector. The new volume features additional information on the nonprofit sector, using the newly digitized database of IRS Form 990 information. Published jointly by NCCS and INDEPENDENT SECTOR, the volume makes nonprofit data more easily understood and useful to a number of different audiences.

National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities-Core Codes (2007) This reference manual provides a full explanation of the structure of the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities-Core Codes (NTEE-CC), a classification system for nonprofits according to their organizational type. The manual includes definitions, various crosswalks between the NTEE-CC and other relevant classification systems, and a subject index.

Building a Common Outcome Framework To Measure Nonprofit Performance (2007) Linda M. Lampkin, Mary Kopczynski Winkler, Janelle Kerlin, Harry P. Hatry, Debra Natenshon, Jason Saul, Julia Melkers, Anna Seshadri.

The work described in this report first provides suggested core indicators for 14 categories of nonprofit organizations and then expands the notion of common core indicators to a much wider variety of programs by suggesting a common framework of outcome indicators for all nonprofit programs. This can provide guidance to nonprofits as they figure out what to measure and how to do it and will work to ease the looming reporting nightmare that will occur unless a common framework for outcome measurement emerges.
