Section 811 of the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990, supercedes Section 202 Program of Housing for Handicapped. The purpose of the Section 811 program is to enable persons with disabilities to live independently within their communities by expanding the supply of housing that provides supportive services which address the individual health, mental health and other needs of the residents and is designed to accommodate these special needs.
