Look Up an NTEE Code

Enter an organization's Employer Identification Number (EIN) to see the NTEE code the IRS has on record for it.

Nine digits, with or without the hyphen. The EIN is on the organization's IRS determination letter and on any Form 990 it has filed. To find an EIN from a name, use the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search.

NCCS does not assign or change NTEE codes. The IRS assigns the code when it approves an organization's exemption and is the only body that can change it. What you see here is the code as it appears in the IRS Business Master File, as processed by NCCS. If it is wrong or missing, the NTEE guide explains how to ask the IRS to change it. To understand what a code means, browse all codes.
